About Me
I’m Joanna, a qualified and experienced English teacher with a passion for helping people communicate confidently and clearly. I’ve taught hundreds of students from around the world—both in-person and online—ranging from professionals to NATO troops to teenagers preparing for exams.
I grew up in Oxford, UK and now I am based in the Canary Islands, so I understand what I means to learn a language for real life—not just in the classroom. I specialise in practical, engaging English classes designed to give you the tools you need to succeed, whether you're preparing for meetings, working in tourism, applying for jobs abroad, or simply wanting to feel more confident in conversation.
My teaching style is warm, structured, and effective. I’ll meet you where you are and help you get to where you want to be—with clarity, humour, and a lot of encouragement along the way.
I speak English as my native language, and I also speak Spanish and Polish—which helps me connect with students from diverse backgrounds and explain tricky grammar or vocabulary in ways that make sense across languages.

Education
2022-2023
King's College
London
I received a Master's degree from King's College London in 2023 in Contemporary Culture, Literature, and Theory. During my studies, I developed a deep understanding of how language is used in real-world contexts—from novels and essays to media and culture. This allows me to bring authentic, engaging materials into the classroom and help students connect language learning to the world around them.
2019-2022
University of Sussex
I completed my Bachelor's degree in English at the University of Sussex in 2022. My degree gave me a strong foundation in grammar, linguistics, and the history of the language. It taught me how English works at a structural level, which helps me explain language clearly and accurately to my students.
